Low Mount Turbo Kit

Precision-Engineered for Power and Reliability!

Our Goals

are to:

  • Lower Redline

Keep the driving characteristics of the Rx8 meaning no peaky power delivery and a smooth torque curve all the way to a slightly lower redline of 8500rpms.

  • Achieve Early Spooling

By generating boost by 2250-2500rpm and on target by 3000rpm.

  • Greater Boost Control

Use an external wastegate to maximise space available and allow greater boost control.

  • 300WHP

Reliably produce 300WHP (+350HP) without stressing the OEM systems.

Turbo Manifold

The next job now we have the turbo is to design the manifold, now it probably will not come as a surprise but we are producing a stainless steel billet manifold, this will mean production parts are all perfectly the same as well as maximising space which we all know is a limiting factor on the Rx8, especially for the RHD versions.

Manifold Prototype

This design now has gone forward to the manufacturer to produce a fully functional prototype!

  • Stainless Steel 304 CNC machined for precision.
  • Internal contours and channeling to maxmise the gas flow.
  • Utilises space on the manifold to mount an external wastegate.

Sensors

The manifold will come with two bosses for sensors to be added at your discretion, although if you are choosing our specified turbo and sticking within the supported limits of the kit then there will be no need for these additional sensors, however if you want to push on it’s nice to know you can add a pressure and temperature sensor before the turbo with ease.

Heat Managment

Rotary’s run extremely hot, it’s not unusual to see 950oc at the catalytic converter on a stock system, the turbo due to limited space also gets close to the firewalls of the under side of the car. as an option we will be offering exhaust lagging through a partner company Thermo Met Ltd which will insulate the car from the hottest parts of the system.

The Prototype

The Engine

We are actually using one of our own cars to prove this design, this will be a complete fully supported kit allowing either at home DIY fitment or professional instalment in our workshop.

The engine which is used for benchmarking is a freshly build completely standard engine but does boast some refinements:

  • Completely standard intake ports, smoothed not enlarged, in fact we fitted a 4 Port centre iron due to the smaller intake area which may assist with low end performance.
  • Minor exhaust porting, mainly on the middle iron to match the 6 Port variants.
  • OEM Mazda Rx7 Apex seals with machine Rx8 corner seals to accommodate them, this also requires the Rotors to be machined and balanced.
  • Fully dynamically balanced assembly.

More details of the prototype vehicle can be found here: (coming soon).
