RRP Aftermarket ECU Tuning
Aftermarket ECU Tuning:
The aftermarket ECU tuning service starts with the ECU, you may already have an aftermarket ECU in the car and that is fine how we can offer support from installation to tuning.
At RRP we recommend the Adaptronic modular series ECUs for the Rx7 and Rx8 with the additional O2 controller board, the are PnP and require the least set up to get you on the go. If purchasing the ECU through RRP we will ensure the latest software versions are installed and if purchased with an O2 board (recommended) then we will install the module and terminate the pins on the O2 wideband controller which will make them PnP straight into the OEM connector block all free of charge.

Tuning Process:
Tuning can be done on the road, on the dyno in person or over a digital media platform. and follows the basic steps below:
Step1: ECU Configuration and Testing.
Firstly when in stalling a new ECU we need to be sure the inputs, parameters and outputs are all as expected, in this this step we will look to confirm all of these with you and configure the ECU parameters to suit your project. This is a key step and often overlooked, but as we all know, rubbish in = rubbish out.
Step 2: Basemap configuration.
The next step is to configure the basemap to suit your project, the basemap will provide a safe tuning platform to dial in the car later on in the process.
Step 3: Idle tuning.
Idle tuning is the first part of the actual tuning process, we will need to do both cold start and warm start tuning to fully dial the car in.
Step 4: Steady state tuning.
After we have dialed in the idle we can then move onto steady state tuning, this entails tuning all of the Volumetric Efficiency data sets with the table to ensure the car is smooth to drive on the road and that target AFRs are being achieved. MBT tuning will follow if this stage is completed on a dyno otherwise it can be completed at a later stage.
Step 5: Full power tuning.
Full power will follow the steady state tuning were we look to extract the most from your set up in a safe manner.
Step 6: Confirmation.
Once all the steps above are completed we will look to confirm the tune on the road and to iron out any little adjustments that need to be made.
