RRP Low Mount Turbo MKII Turn Key Kit – Mazda RX-8 2004-08
The Ryan Rotary Performance (RRP) Low Mount Turbo MKII Turn Key Kit is the complete low‑mount turbo solution for the RX‑8—engineered so you can simply install the kit, ECU and software, and then drive. After extensive design, development, and real‑world validation, we’ve created a no‑compromise package built entirely around the RX‑8 platform.
This system delivers a true bolt‑on experience. Every major component is bespoke, designed specifically for the RX‑8 rather than adapted from generic turbo hardware. Despite the RX‑8 never being intended for forced induction, the MKII kit requires minimal modification which was one of our major design constraints.
The kit provides everything you need *mechanically and electrically see FAQ’s for might be required as an additional requirement.
Engine Control:
This kit is supplied with a Haltech Nexus RX‑8 Plug‑and‑Play ECU, complete with all essential sensors required for a full installation. The ECU arrives preloaded with a comprehensive RRP‑developed base calibration, created through months of real‑world driving on a standard ported 6‑port RX‑8. This base tune is designed to be uploaded allowing immediate driving providing a seamless out‑of‑the‑box experience.
A 4‑port base calibration can also be provided. However, as we have not yet gathered real‑world data for this configuration, further refinement would require collaboration with RRP during the setup process.
Full tuning support is included as part of the package, covering optimisation up to spring wastegate pressure.
Turbo Selection:
At the heart of the kit is the Xona Rotor XR7864S Turbo, Xona Forged a long standing relationship, TiAL Sport and FP Turbo and have since worked together to form XONA ROTOR. Xona Rotor’s mission is to set a new standard for quality and performance for turbochargers being offered to motorsports and performance markets and have become a premium brand. We could have selected cheaper turbo alternatives but this is the heart of the system and where in our opinion there should be no compromise.

Turbo Manifold, Downpipe & Wastegate:
Our billet stainless steel turbo manifold, designed to accommodate this turbo, the largest low mount turbo yet released on a low mount kit for the Rx8.
- CNC‑machined from 304 stainless steel for precision and durability;
- Internal geometry optimised to maximise exhaust gas flow;
- Integrated mounting provision for supplied 45mm external wastegate;
- Designed around the Xona Rotor XR7864S Turbo;
- The downpipe is beautifully constructed from SS304 with a premium exhaust bellow to allow for some flexibility;
- For this application we have selected the Turbosmart GenV WG45 CompGate45 14psi external wastegate to control boost. It is strongly recommended to install no more than the 11PSI spring without further supporting modifications.
The Intercooler:
Our stunning RRP intercooler, with a custom core from the well renowned Pro Alloy and perfectly fabricated by Inspired Motorsport, a work-of-art piece that integrates seamlessly with OEM bumper mounting points for effortless installation.
This is a true OEM‑plus solution:
- Direct fitment using factory mounting points;
- Integrated toe‑thread support;
- Rated for up to 400 HP airflow capability;
- RRP kit supported to 11 PSI spring pressure, yielding 330–350 HP in typical setups, although the turbo itself could support more; it will require substantial amount of work and an engine rebuild to support that increase.
For power levels beyond this, additional upgrades outside the scope of this kit will be required.
Hardware:
further support elements in this kit include the RRP right engine mount bracket, along with a right specific RRP engine mount (those that already own RRP engine mounts can be provided with just the new insert).
The included boost and intake piping is precisely sized to complement the OEM intake system while maximizing flow efficiency from the selected turbo.

- High-quality silicone couplers with worm drive clamps.
Note: This kit ships in a raw aluminum finish (ideal for custom powder coating or anodising).

What will I need to finish off the install?
You’ll need to modify the OEM to accept an oil return from the turbo, or simply purchase the RRP Billet Sump.
Is the kit suitable for both RHD & LHD vehicle’s?
Yes the kit works for both LHD & RHD vehicles.
Do you need to relocate the battery for this kit?
If you wish to keep the OEM battery this will need to be relocated, there is room in the original location for a smaller or lithium battery.
